Weymouth’s Columbian Square Groundbreaking

The reconstruction of Weymouth’s Columbian Square has officially begun! This morning, the town kicked off the $11 million project with an official groundbreaking and reviewed the improvements that will be made.
The project will add a traffic signal at Pleasant, Union, and Columbian streets; cut the length of crosswalks at least in half and makes them more visible; add a radar speed display; shift parking spaces; and add corner plazas with seating that could be used for public events.
I am also proud that the state was able to support the town’s vision through grants totaling $258,000 to assist with the design and planning process. For more information about the project, visit www.columbiansquareimprovements.com.
