Great day for Weymouth! The ribbon has been cut on the new Maria Weston Chapman Middle School and it is officially ready for students this fall!
This has been a years-long process and there are so many people to say thank you to: Mayor Hedlund, his staff, the Town Council and School Committee, the school building committee led by Chief of Staff, Ted Langill, and of course, the residents who made a difference in the “Yes for a new Chapman” campaign. I am also proud to have worked on this with my legislative colleagues Speaker Mariano and Rep. Murphy and Jack McCarthy and his team from the MSBA.
After touring the building, it is clear this new space will allow our students to grow into their full potential, and our educators to thrive. This incredible community school was truly built with everyone’s abilities in mind and I am so excited to see what possibilities become a reality thanks to this state of the art school.
