Always great to be back at the Edward M. Kennedy Institute for the US Senate to welcome students from the South Shore! This morning, I had the opportunity to talk with students from Marshfield High School about the importance of civic engagement, bi-partisan policymaking, and the role of a state senator.
After learning about the roles of government officials, government processes, and more, students participated in a senate simulation where they were members of the senate and debated legislation. It’s important that we continue to find ways to make learning about our government functions fun and engaging, and I sincerely appreciate the work of the EMK Institute on that front.
Thanks again to all the students who participated today – it’s always good to hear from our future leaders!
