Thank you to The Norwell Grange for hosting a fantastic open house over the weekend! The Norwell Grange is an agricultural association aimed at leadership and community improvement through its commitment to expand agriculture education.
The organization is in the process of some significant renovations to its building – including updated electrical, plumbing, and HVAC, window repairs, exterior repairs/painting, new accessible bathrooms, and a new commercial kitchen. In addition to the financial support of the town and private citizens, I am proud to have been able to direct $120,000 in state funding to the Grange over the past year to assist with their renovation.
Initially built in 1876, the building first housed the District No. 2 Grammar School and in 1888, the Norwell High School was moved to the second floor. Over the past 146 years, the building itself has changed, but its character and historic value have remained.
The improvements being made to the building are breathing new life into the community and I am excited to see the finished product.
