Mass MVMNT Raises Funding for local Veterans

This week, Hingham VSO Keith Jermyn, Liz Klein, Hingham Select Board, and I had the opportunity to thank Mike Monarch and his gym, Mass MVMNT, for their outstanding support of our veterans.
For the last three years, Mike has been raising funds to support local Hingham veterans in need through the annual “Murph Challenge” in honor of Lt. Michael P. Murphy, a Navy SEAL killed in Afghanistan in 2005 while trying to have his SEAL team rescued during a firefight with the Taliban. The challenge consists of running one mile, then doing 100 pullups, then 200 pushups, then 300 squats, and capped off by another one mile run – all while wearing a 20 pound vest.
To date, the team has raised over $12,000. Thank you to Mike, the participants, and those who pledge donations, for all you have done to support the local veterans community.
