Congratulations to the Hingham Lumber Company on 75 years in business! Last night I had the chance to congratulate the McNulty family and their team on all they have done for our community over the years.
In 1947, William McNulty Jr. started his own business supplying the construction trades off Summer Street in Hingham. The location was chosen because it had a rail siding allowing shipments to easily be delivered and unloaded directly to the yard.
Years later in 1986, three of William’s 11 children, John, Tom, and Bobbie took on a more vested interest in the company and purchased it from their father. In 2003, the company moved to a new location in Cohasset where it sits today – the space includes a 24,000 sq. ft. Hardware store, a 5,000 sq. ft. showroom and a 60,000 sq. ft. drive thru lumber yard to better service customers.
I am wishing them luck on the next 75 years!
