Senator O’Connor Sworn-in as Member of the 192nd General Court of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts

BOSTON, MA – On Wednesday, Senator Patrick O’Connor (R-Weymouth) was sworn-in at a socially distanced outdoor ceremony at Ashburton Park by the State House with his Senate Colleagues to serve two-year terms as members of the 192nd General Court of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

O’Connor said that he had been reflecting on the previous year leading up to the ceremony.

“Thinking back on the difficult year we experienced, I am reminded of the many instances in which the South Shore community came together to support one another,” he said. “We had people run supply drives for the elderly, raise funds for local food pantries, advocate for critical public transportation services, and commit many acts of kindness to help out their neighbors. Serving the South Shore community on Beacon Hill is an incredible privilege.”

Governor Baker administered the oath of office to the Senators in attendance at the park and those who participated virtually. The ceremony marked the beginning of O’Connor’s third full term and fourth since being sworn-in in May of 2016 after a special election.

“While there will be brighter days ahead in 2021, I know that I’ll need to bring that sense of community present in the South Shore every day to Beacon Hill to make sure no one is left behind during the COVID-19 era,” said O’Connor. “I’m looking forward to getting right to work with my colleagues to overcome the pandemic’s challenges and continue to make the Commonwealth a better place to live, work, and raise a family.”

Senator Patrick O’Connor represents the Plymouth and Norfolk district, which includes the towns of Cohasset, Duxbury, Hingham, Hull, Marshfield, Norwell, Scituate, and Weymouth. Sen. O’Connor and his staff may be reached at the State House at 617-722-1646 or by email at Patrick.O’[email protected].
