BOSTON, MA – The Baker-Polito Administration recently announced over $17.3 million in grants to address failing dams, coastal infrastructure, and levees across the Commonwealth. As part of the announcement, the South Shore can expect to see $3,157,355 to help address these needs.
“Every town on the South Shore has been battling the effects of climate change for years,” said Senator O’Connor (R-Weymouth). “Investing in preparedness measures and programs like this are vital to curbing potential damage and erosion along our coastal communities. I appreciate the investment the Baker-Polito Administration has made in this area over the years.”
"Funding to create and repair coastal infrastructure is critical to the Commonwealth's efforts to combat the climate crisis," said Representative Joan Meschino (D-Hull). "These grants offer the South Shore a welcome opportunity to invest in our coastal communities' resilience."
“This funding will go a long way to invest in protecting our coastal infrastructure and residents from the ever-changing ocean in both Brant Rock and Ocean Bluff,” said Marshfield Town Administrator Mike Maresco. “The stability brought by these improvements will increase the economic vitality of these areas for many years to come”.
